That gawker is the master control program?
It took me long enough to get past and ignore “the gawker”. The fact that you have to be approved by the higher up to post anywhere (un-grey’d) was the hardest part to get past and ignore... refrain... from raging out of control. I’m lucky oppo took me into its loving arms.
With that, I understand how websites run and need survive (aka money income). If no actual service is offered, this income is provided through advertising, page visits, clicks, content viewing etc. Click bait is the latest addiction on the internet. It works too, especially if enough suckers click it.
However, the downside is the user will damn sure get a good idea of how “well” the website is doing, the characters behind the website and how far they’re willing to go... especially if it is harmful material. This isn’t even a new thing for gawker either... their middle name is “progressive”.
So I say to you fellow opponauts: I wish you all the best. Stay true to oppositelock and what it stands for. If you can manage to put aside the ugly and stay oppostrong, we shall overcome.
I intend to ride this out for all it is worth. Edit: In all honestly, it was probably a good thing that we were separated from Jalopnik.

Gawker and its affiliates were, are and always will be garbage sites. The only reason I’m on oppo is because it’s community driven and isn’t shoving clickbait or bullshit politics down my throat every second.

Oppositelock has always in its own bubble away from all the messes in which Gawker has been involved; a sanctuary. Thus, I have always been able to compartmentalize the fact that I am currently posting on a Gawker Media platform.
That being said, for now, I do not plan on leaving Kinja’d Oppo. I thoroughly enjoy having a somewhat direct link to the authors and articles of the numerous Jalopnik sub-sites.
However, in light of recent reactions from the article-which-will-not-be-named, I find it prudent to plan for a backup forum as to not lose touch those leaving - permenantly, or otherwise - as I have grown quite attached to you germs.
